- Teaching Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology
Description
The Department of Education and Human Services invites applications for a non-tenure-track
and non-tenured Teaching Assistant Professor with a specialization in Counseling Psychology,
with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. This academic-year position is a renewable,
fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment is three (3)
years.
Candidates must have an earned PhD, PsyD, or EdD in Counseling Psychology or a closely
related field by the date of employment. Candidates must be a licensed psychologist in PA or
license-eligible in PA and must be eligible for all state-mandated clearances, including FBI
Federal Criminal history, Record (Act 114), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check
(Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), and Tuberculosis clearance.
Candidates must have successfully completed at least one prior teaching experience (including
a teaching assistantship or co-teaching) by date of employment.
The individual hired will be expected to:
Teach courses equivalent to 9 credits in fall and 9 credits in spring semesters (typically
three 3-credit courses per semester).
Provide leadership of the on-campus M.Ed. Mental Health Counseling Program,
including maintenance of accreditation.
Advise students in the M.Ed. Mental Health Counseling program.
Meet individually with students as needed, and provide mentoring and guidance
regarding clinical training and career development.
Attend Program Meetings and Departmental Meetings.
Recommend updates to the program manual and training materials as needed, and
provide input and feedback to the overall training of students.
Participate in student remediation, when needed.
Participate in student admissions.
Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
