Company Profile
New England Center for OCD and Anxiety Boston
Company Overview
The New England Center for OCD and Anxiety (NECOA) is a specialized mental health organization whose mission is to provide exceptional, compassionate, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and adults with OCD and anxiety, and their families. NECOA specializes in evidence-based treatment for OCD, anxiety, and related conditions, with its clinicians extensively trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The center offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet clients wherever they are in their journey. These include general outpatient therapy, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — a personalized four-week program for children and adults incorporating individual therapy and ERP coaching — as well as family and couples therapy, group treatment, and virtual reality (VR) exposure therapy. Care is available in-person, virtually, or through a combination of both.
NECOA serves a broad and inclusive clientele, offering dedicated support for neurodivergent individuals and LGBTQIA+ clients, and is committed to creating a space where clients can show up fully as themselves, with support offered without judgment. The organization is led by a team of highly credentialed clinicians. Clinical Director Dr. Jason Krompinger, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified clinical psychologist who previously directed the training program and served as director of psychological services at the McLean Hospital OCD Institute, where he also held an academic appointment as instructor in psychology in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
NECOA operates primarily as a self-pay clinic and does accept some insurance. The organization also supports the broader professional community through training and consultation services, including its Complex Consultation Service (CCS) and provider referral network. With its roots in the greater Boston area and its expanding national and international footprint, NECOA remains dedicated to making specialized, high-quality OCD and anxiety care more widely accessible.
Company History
The New England Center for OCD and Anxiety (NECOA) was founded by Dr. Lisa W. Coyne, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience improving the psychological well-being of children, teens, and families. Before establishing NECOA, Dr. Coyne taught as a tenured professor in the APA-Accredited Clinical Psychology program at Suffolk University for nine years, and she has since become an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, where she also founded the McLean Child and Adolescent OCD Institute (OCDI Jr.). NECOA was established in 2017 with a mission to provide evidence-based care for OCD and anxiety using therapies such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). From its origins in the Boston area, NECOA has grown to ten locations spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast, with offices across Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Maine, Los Angeles, and even an international location in the Irish Midlands — reflecting its commitment to expanding access to specialized OCD and anxiety care.
